Work in the church AND in the marketplace is SACRED

(Colossians 1:19-20) For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled EVERYTHING to himself. He made peace with EVERYTHING in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Four Theological Truths of Faith & Work:

1. In The Beginning There Was __________!

(Genesis 2:1-3) Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation…

(Genesis 2:15) The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.

2. Our __________ is part of God’s Great Story

* We weren’t created to be main characters, we are part of God’s great story!

3. When We Work, We _____________________________in the Cultivation of His World

(Genesis 1:28) And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

4. When We Work, We ______________ the Great Commandment

(Matthew 22:36-40) “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

(Colossians 1:19-20) For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled EVERYTHING to himself. He made peace with EVERYTHING in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

* The Gospel redeems ALL THINGS, including the work of our hands!
