Psalms: Why the Lord is Praised

Psalm 147

v1. Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

–> Praising the Lord refreshes and renews the worshiper.

v2. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.

–> God specializes in restoration.

v3. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

–> No matter what has broken your heart, God can restore it.

(Proverbs 4:23) Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

v4. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. v5. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

–> The Limitless One has limitless hope.

v6. The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.

–> Humble yourself before him or be humbled.
