PowerPaths—The Holy Spirit
By Pastor Robby Bradford
BIG IDEA: The Holy Spirit gives powerful gifts.
(1 Corinthians 12:7-11) Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
FAITH=A supernatural impartation of belief and confidence in a particular situation.
–> When you don’t have enough faith for a situation, the Spirit gives you a gift of faith that results in peace.
GIFTS OF HEALINGS=Supernatural endowments of health.
–> The Holy Spirit continues the healing work of Jesus.
(Matthew 8:16-17) When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities
and bore our diseases.”
(1 Peter 2:24) He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
(Psalm 103:2-5) Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
MIRACLES=A divine intervention that alters our circumstances.
–> Miracles are the “regular” work of God in our lives.
(Acts 14:8-10) In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.
(John 16:7) But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
