–> What is a stronghold?

(2 Corinthians 10:3-5) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

–> Living by lies….

Steals our focus.
Takes over our identity. 
Drains our emotions. 
Distracts us from our purpose. 
Robs us of abundant life.

Overcoming Strongholds

  1. Take back your mind. 

(Romans 8:5-6 NLT) Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

(Philippians 4:8-9) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

  • I will change my life when I change the way I think.

 2. Identify the lie. 

(John 8:44) “…When (the devil) lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” 

  • If I keep believing lies, I can’t be free.

 3. Break lies with God’s truth. 

(Ephesians 6:10-18) Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…Take… the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray

(Philippians 4:6-7) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • I can break the power of lies with God’s truth.
